Everyone thinks they know where to find the best K-dramas. They’re wrong.

While Netflix gets all the headlines and your friends won’t shut up about their latest Korean obsession, there’s another streaming platform that’s been quietly hoarding some of the most jaw-dropping Korean content you’ve never heard of. And the craziest part? You probably already have a subscription.

Hulu just pulled off something nobody saw coming. Through a partnership that flew completely under the radar, they’ve stacked their library with K-dramas and films that are making Netflix’s catalog look basic. We’re talking record-breaking thrillers that had millions of Koreans glued to their screens, action series that turned romantic leads into full-blown action stars, and psychological horror so disturbing it’ll ruin your sleep schedule for weeks.

One show became Hulu’s biggest K-drama hit of 2025, and chances are you haven’t even heard its name yet. Another one features an actress beloved for playing adorable characters suddenly transformed into the darkest villain of her career. There’s even a Park Chan-wook masterpiece sitting right there in the catalog, and most people scroll past it without realizing what they’re missing.

The question isn’t whether Hulu’s Korean library is good. The question is: why has nobody been talking about it?

Buckle up. What you’re about to discover will completely change how you use your Hulu subscription.

1. Nine Puzzles: The Record-Breaking Psychological Thriller

Credits: Mashable ME

Nine Puzzles became Hulu’s biggest K-drama hit of 2025 for damn good reason. Kim Da-mi plays Yoon E-na, a quirky yet brilliant profiler who witnessed an unsolved murder as a teenager, and Son Suk-ku is Kim Han-saem, the detective who once suspected her of committing that very crime. A decade later, they’re forced to partner up in Seoul’s violent crimes unit when a new serial killer leaves puzzle pieces at each crime scene, connecting back to their original case. The psychological cat-and-mouse game between profiler and detective creates unbearable tension while exploring trauma, trust, and obsession. Kim Da-mi, known for Itaewon Class, delivers her most mature performance yet, while Son Suk-ku proves why he’s one of Korea’s most underrated actors. The show doesn’t just solve crimes, it dissects the minds of everyone involved until you question your own sanity.

Share this with anyone still sleeping on Hulu’s K-drama library!

2. A Shop for Killers: Lee Dong-wook’s Action Transformation

Credits: Mubi

Lee Dong-wook playing a reclusive uncle running a secret assassin supply shop? Sign everyone up immediately. A Shop for Killers follows college student Ji-an (Kim Hye-jun) who returns home after her uncle Jeong Jin-man’s mysterious death, only to get ambushed by skilled assassins trying to breach the compound where she was raised. As Ji-an uncovers Jin-man’s secrets, she realizes everything he taught her about survival wasn’t paranoia but preparation for this exact scenario. The action sequences rival theatrical releases, with hand-to-hand combat, tactical planning, and genuine stakes that keep viewers on edge. Lee Dong-wook completely transforms from his typical romantic lead roles into hardened mercenary, proving his range extends far beyond the goblin everyone fell in love with. The show’s mystery unfolds gradually, each flashback revealing more about Jin-man’s past while Ji-an fights for survival in the present.

3. Hyper Knife: Medical Drama Meets Moral Ambiguity

Credits: Bizz Buzz

Park Eun-bin playing a villain? That’s the immediate hook for Hyper Knife, where the beloved actress known for Extraordinary Attorney Woo takes on her darkest role as neurosurgeon Jung Se-ok. After her mentor Choi Deok-hee (Sul Kyung-gu) removes her from her post for unethical practices, Jung starts conducting illegal experiments that could revolutionize neurosurgery. The show doesn’t make Jung a straightforward villain, instead exploring how ambition, genius, and desperation blur ethical lines. Sul Kyung-gu matches Park Eun-bin’s intensity as the mentor realizing he created a monster. The medical procedures look disturbingly realistic, the moral questions have no easy answers, and the production design makes hospitals look simultaneously sterile and menacing. It’s The Good Doctor if everyone made exclusively bad choices.

Don’t miss out on seeing Park Eun-bin play against type!

4. Tempest: Jun Ji-hyun’s Political Conspiracy Epic

Credits: Forbes

Jun Ji-hyun (also known as Gianna Jun) returns to television in Tempest, a political thriller about diplomat Munju Seo investigating her husband’s assassination. When Jang Jinuk of the New Republican Party gets murdered publicly, Munju discovers a conspiracy involving South Korea, North Korea, and the United States that could trigger World War III. Gang Dong-won co-stars as San Ho, the mercenary protecting her while she digs deeper into treachery that extends to the highest government levels. Jun Ji-hyun brings the same charisma she showed in My Sassy Girl and The Legend of the Blue Sea but channels it into righteous fury and determination. The show balances explosive action with political intrigue, never sacrificing character development for spectacle. It’s Designated Survivor meets Bodyguard with a distinctly Korean perspective on global power dynamics.

5. Buried Hearts: The Revenge Drama That Hits Different

Credits: Filmibeat

Buried Hearts follows the revenge drama template Korean television perfected but adds layers that make it feel fresh. The show explores how buried trauma erupts years later, destroying everyone involved in the original crime. The cast delivers emotionally devastating performances that make you sympathize with everyone, even the villains whose motivations reveal systematic failures rather than individual evil. It’s not just about revenge but accountability, healing, and whether justice can exist outside institutional frameworks that failed the victims initially. The cinematography uses color grading brilliantly, with flashbacks appearing washed out while present-day scenes burst with intensity reflecting the characters’ emotional states.

6. The Judge from Hell: Fantasy Meets Legal Drama

Credits: TOI

The Judge from Hell (2024) combines courtroom drama with supernatural fantasy in ways only K-dramas attempt. A demon inhabiting a judge’s body dispenses brutal justice to criminals who escaped legal punishment, creating moral questions about vigilantism versus institutional failure. The show doesn’t shy away from depicting heinous crimes but balances darkness with dark comedy and surprising tenderness. The lead performance captures the demon’s otherworldly perspective while showing glimpses of the original judge’s humanity bleeding through. It’s The Good Place meets Dexter with Korean sensibility about honor, duty, and cosmic justice.

7. Revenant: Supernatural Horror That Actually Terrifies

Credits: Dramabeans

Kim Tae-ri from Twenty-Five Twenty-One stars in Revenant, a supernatural horror drama from the writer of Kingdom that’ll keep you awake at night. Gu San-yeong works as an anonymous delivery person until her occult researcher father’s death leads to possession by an evil spirit that feeds on anger. People around her start dying by suicide under mysterious circumstances while occult professor Yeom Hae-sang (Oh Jung-se) tries destroying the spirit that’s wreaked havoc for decades. The show takes Korean folklore seriously, using traditional beliefs to create a genuinely scary atmosphere rather than cheap jump scares. Kim Tae-ri’s performance as someone fighting for control of her own body while the demon gains strength remains absolutely chilling.

8. The Worst of Evil: Undercover Cop Thriller

Credits: MovieWeb

The Worst of Evil (2023) stars Ji Chang-wook and Wi Ha-jun as cops going undercover in a drug trafficking ring connecting South Korea and Japan during the 1990s. The period setting allows for exploration of Korea’s economic boom alongside organized crime’s expansion. The show doesn’t glorify criminal life but shows how systemic poverty and limited opportunities push people toward illegal economies. The undercover aspect creates constant tension about exposure and moral compromise as the cops get deeper into the organization. The action choreography looks brutal and grounded rather than stylized, emphasizing consequence over spectacle.

9. Shadow Detective: Veteran Cop’s Final Case

Credits: Leisurebyte

Lee Sung-min plays Detective Kim Taek-rok in Shadow Detective, a veteran cop on retirement’s edge who gets framed for his colleague’s murder. An anonymous caller provides information about the killing, forcing Taek-rok to investigate his own past while evading the new investigation chief (Jin Goo) who believes he’s guilty. The show explores how long careers in law enforcement create enemies while maintaining social commentary about corruption and institutional failures. Lee Sung-min’s weathered performance captures decades of compromise and regret while showing the determination that made him a legendary detective before everything unraveled.

10. Low Life: Underwater Treasure Hunt

Credits: Variety

Low Life (2025) directed by Kang Yun-sung follows various parties chasing newly discovered treasure off Sinan’s coast. Criminals, dealers, fraudsters, and businessmen form alliances and betray each other pursuing wealth without collateral damage until hidden intentions emerge. The show primarily sets action at sea, using confined spaces aboard ships to amplify tension. Ryu Seung-ryong leads an ensemble cast navigating moral ambiguity where everyone’s simultaneously victim and predator. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre relocated to Korean waters with modern examination of how greed corrupts regardless of initial intentions.

11. Big Mouth: False Accusation Nightmare

Credits: Dramabeans

Big Mouth (2022) stars Lee Jong-suk as Park Chang-ho, a third-rate lawyer with 10% win rate who gets falsely accused of being notorious conman Big Mouse. Imprisoned while trying to prove his innocence, Chang-ho discovers the real Big Mouse might be someone incredibly powerful. His wife Go Mi-ho (Im Yoon-ah) investigates from outside while he navigates prison politics and stays alive long enough to clear his name. The show builds conspiracy slowly, each revelation expanding the scope until what seemed like a simple case becomes commentary on wealth inequality and justice systems serving the powerful.

12. Doctor Lawyer: Medical-Legal Hybrid

Credits: South China Morning Post

Doctor Lawyer (2022) follows surgeon-turned-lawyer Jayden Lee (So Ji-sub) seeking revenge after getting accused of medical malpractice during politically motivated surgery. He uses legal skills combined with medical knowledge to take down corrupt hospital administrators and wealthy patients who exploited the system. The show provides wish fulfillment of seeing medical corruption exposed while maintaining realistic legal procedures. So Ji-sub brings gravitas to Jayden’s transformation from idealistic doctor to calculated lawyer willing to use every tool available for justice.

13. One Dollar Lawyer: Comedy Meets Justice

Credits: Film Fugitives

One Dollar Lawyer provides lighter fare without sacrificing substance, following attorney Cheon Ji-hoon who charges clients one dollar regardless of case complexity. His commitment to accessible justice creates conflicts with prosecutors and wealthy defendants accustomed to buying favorable outcomes. The show balances comedy with social commentary, using humor to examine serious issues about legal representation inequality. The cases range from trivial to life-altering, each demonstrating how lack of quality legal defense perpetuates injustice regardless of actual guilt or innocence.

14. Moving: Superhuman Family Saga

Credits: TOI

Moving (2023) became Disney+ Korea’s most ambitious project, following three families with superhuman abilities hiding from government agencies that want to weaponize them. The multi-generational story explores how parents with powers try protecting children from exploitation while those children discover their own abilities and struggle with identity. The action sequences utilize superpowers creatively rather than relying on CGI spectacle alone. Han Hyo-joo, Zo In-sung, and Ryu Seung-ryong anchor the ensemble cast, each generation’s story informing the others until past and present collide catastrophically.

15. Decision to Leave: Park Chan-wook’s Romantic Mystery

Credits: TOI

Park Chan-wook’s Decision to Leave (2022) brings his signature visual style to a romantic mystery about detective Hae-jun (Park Hae-il) investigating a rock climber’s suspicious death. The victim’s widow Seo-rae (Tang Wei), a Chinese immigrant, becomes prime suspect but also object of Hae-jun’s obsession. The film subverts noir tropes while maintaining the genre’s moral ambiguity and fatalism. Park Chan-wook’s direction creates intimacy through surveillance footage and stolen glances, making viewers complicit in Hae-jun’s ethical violations. It’s a romance built on mutual destruction, with neither character emerging unscathed from their collision.
